Parasite

Role Description

The Parasite is an evil OMT role which links itself to other players to perform its kills. It is similar to several roles, but is most like the Malicious Hypnotist. The inhabited player has their powers tampered with and on top of the normal effects they would give, other negative powers come through their list as well. The Parasite has an innocent counterpart, the Symbiote and the two roles act in a similar fashion to the Psychologist/Serial Killer roles. The Parasite uses its host to protect itself, but also reach out to attack other players.

Role Powers

  • The Symbiote chooses a player to inhabit whenever it is without a host
    • The inhabited player is never told that they're inhabited
  • The inhabited player is affected by several passive powers and conditions
    • The inhabited player is unable to target the Parasite
    • There is a 25% chance that any attack on the Parasite will be redirected to the player
    • There is a 50% chance that the inhabited player's normal night list will fail, but the enchant effect (see below) will continue regardless
    • The Parasite gains shield and the inhabited player loses shield
    • The inhabited player gains an Enchant effect that lasts until the Parasite leaves
      • The enchant effect randomises between a kill, a role block, a Magistrate effect and a blind
        • Note: The kill should have a higher chance to be used than the other abilities
      • If the inhabited player does not have a night list, the Parasite uses the randomised enchant themselves as if it were a night list
  • The Parasite may leave its inhabited player once per day, but doing so will prevent the Parasite from entering that player again
    • Once the Parasite has left, the now uninhabited player is attacked during the next night scene
    • If all the players have been previous hosts, thus leaving no possible habitats left for the Parasite, the Parasite dies
  • If the Parasite's inhabited player targets the Symbiote's inhabited player, both the Parasite and Symbiote will be informed
    • If the Parasite's inhabited player targets the Symbiote's inhabited player a second time, the Symbiote is killed
    • The Parasite can be killed by the Symbiote in the same fashion if the Symbiote's inhabited player targets their inhabited player twice, of which they'll be informed
  • The Parasite and Symbiote take shield damage if they attempt to inhabit the same body
  • The Parasite will win if there are only two innocents left and only one is uninhabitable and neither has the ability to kill, however if both are inhabitable, the Parasite must kill one to win. NOTE: This can only happen if the Symbiote is dead!
  • The Parasite has a day-kill and an execution redirect that redirects execution to their inhabtied player

Alternatives

  • The Parasite may give different affects for inhabiting a player
  • The Parasite may only be able to choose a new host once the old one dies
  • The enchant effects may differ, although a kill is always recommended as at least one option in the randomiser
  • The Parasite and its host may share a boosted shield together
  • If the inhabited player dies, the Parasite dies too and vice versa
  • The Parasite and the Symbiote die if they try to inhabit the same player
  • If either Parasite or Symbiote inhabits a player that their rival has inhabited and left, they are given a letter from their name
  • The Parasite may be able to dream for the Symbiote
  • The inhabited player knows they are inhabited, but speaking of it to anyone will kill them, similar to the Blackmailer
  • The Parasite must have inhabited a certain amount of players before it can win
  • The player is killed immediately after the Parasite leaves their body

Notes

  • The player should be aware that continually hopping from host to host can hinder their chances of winning. It is not guaranteed for their host to die upon being abandoned, which would result in them being uninhabitable. If all the players become uninhabitable, the Parasite dies. This can easily happen with too much movement, which is why on top of killing hosts upon leaving them, the Parasite has a Hypnotist chance kill.

Kill Method

  • Dies from exhaustion or neck snapped

Sample Role

Parasite
Alignment: Evil, OMT
Win Condition: All other players defeated

Inhabit: At any point you do not have a host to live in, PM a player's name and you will jump into their body. Once per day you may change who you inhabit, but this is not compulsory. If you willingly leave a player, they will be attacked during the next night scene. However, once you leave a player, you can not enter their body again. If you are without a host at any time and all alive players are uninhabitable, you will die. Moving from player to player every day is risky, but will grant you more attacks.

Parasitic: The player you inhabit cannot target you. There is a 25% chance any attack on you will be redirected to the player. The player loses 10% shield and you gain 10% shield so long as the two of you are linked. While you inhabit them, your host's nightly list gains an extra effect which is randomised each night between a kill, a role block, a role disable and a blind. If they do not have a nightly list, you will use that ability as if it were your own night list.

Symbiote: There is a Symbiote in this game, an innocent version of your role. They inhabit a player just as you do. If If your host targets the player the Symbiote has inhabited, you and the Symbiote will be informed. If this happens a second time, the Symbiote will die. The Symbiote can do the same to you. If you and the Symbiote attempt to enter the same body, you both receive shield damage. If you reach 0% shield because of this, you will die.

Control: If there are only two innocents left, neither has the ability to kill and one is inhabitable/inhabited, while the other is uninhabited, you win the game. If the Symbiote is still alive, this will not work.

You have a __% shield
