Messenger

Role Description

The Messenger is a role that can send messages to other players through the Host or have the Host post a message on the main thread. If played strategically, the role can be powerful; influencing other players' actions (starting a Bandwagon or influencing who players target). They can also be fun; posting completely random messages on the thread and seeing what the other players do.

Role Powers

  • The Messenger can send a message of their writing to another player through the Host. The Messenger is not identified as the one who sent the message. The player the message is sent to gets a chance to respond.
  • The Messenger can get the Host to post a message of their writing on the main game thread.

Alternatives

  • The messenger may have only one of the above abilities, or both.
  • The number of messages a Messenger can send may be limited.
  • The messages a Messenger sends may have a length limit, eg. they can't be longer than 250 words.
    • When sending a message to another player, the response would have a length limit as well.
      • The player writing the response might not be notified of the length limit.
